What is PBT sewing thread
PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) sewing thread is a high-performance sewing thread specially designed to meet the needs of elastic fabrics. Compared with traditional polyester thread, its most prominent characteristics are excellent elasticity and outstanding dyeing performance, making it the “golden partner” of elastic clothing.
Chemical composition
PBT and common polyester (PET, polyethylene terephthalate) belong to the polyester family. Its chemical structure has two more methylene groups compared to PET, which makes its molecular chains longer and softer, resulting in a softer feel for its fibers and finished products.
PBT sewing thread has multiple performance advantages
- Excellent elasticity: This is its core advantage. Under 3% stretching, its elastic recovery rate is as high as 99%; When stretched to 10%, the recovery rate also remains at 80%. Can ensure that the stitching can stretch and perfectly reset along with the high elasticity fabric.
- Convenient dyeability: PBT fibers can be dyed with ordinary dispersed dyes under “atmospheric boiling dyeing” conditions at 100 ° C. This not only reduces energy consumption and costs, but also makes colors more vivid and color fastness higher.
- Excellent chemical resistance: PBT sewing thread has excellent acid resistance and also shows excellent resistance to chlorine bleach, especially suitable for clothing that requires frequent washing or bleaching, such as stretch jeans and swimsuits.
